How it's measured
- Where the data comes from
- TheirStack, which collects job postings from LinkedIn, Indeed, Glassdoor and thousands of company career sites. When the same job appears on several sites, it's counted once.
- What counts
- A US posting with a QA or software testing title, such as "QA Engineer", "SDET" or "Software Test Engineer", whose description mentions software testing work like test cases, test automation, Selenium, Playwright or Postman. Quality roles in factories, labs, construction, food, healthcare and hardware are left out.
- When it's counted
- Each morning, the site counts the jobs posted the day before, by the date each job was posted.
- Why a 7-day average
- Far fewer jobs are posted on weekends, so single days zigzag. The 7-day average smooths that out, and the weekly change compares it with the average a week earlier.
- Share of all US postings
- QA's share of all new US job postings. If the source starts covering more job sites, both numbers grow together, so the share shows whether QA itself is gaining or losing ground.
